Humboldt Sharpshooters Have a Successful Summer
It has been yet another successful year for the Humboldt SharpShooters Club, with many awards going out to the kids.
Whitney Boltjes-Johnson was invited to be part of a 4-person Air Rifle team representing the state of South Dakota in the 4-H National Shooting Matches held in Grand Island, NE. The air rifle team placed 7th in each event, which included Standing, Prone, Kneeling, and Silhouettes. Out of 67 shooters, Whitney placed 23rd overall with a 511 in 3P. She shot 8 silhouettes on a very windy, rainy day to tie for 30th place in that competition.
July 3rd found the shooters, parents, and coaches on a road trip to Bowling Green, KY for the Daisy Int'l BB-Gun Championship Matches. The top team consisted of Eric Krizan, Corwin Coldman, Casey Sleeman, Kilee Stoner, and Josie Boltjes-Johnson. This talented team took 12th place out of 42 teams from across the country. The total aggregate team score was 2302, which was only 70 points shy of first place Marshall County, SD. Individual aggregate scores were as follows:
- Eric Krizan - 479
- Corwin Coldman - 464
- Casey Sleeman - 463
- Kilee Stoner - 455
- Josie Boltjes-Johnson - 441
In addition, Eric Krizan took the first place gold medal in standing with a score of 96.05. Alternates who also competed were Makenzie Haensel and Abbi Shumaker. Great job shooters!
